This program is made possible through a generous donation from the Lids Foundation to support the growth of local hockey.

The IYHA Jr Fuel is pleased to announce that we have partnered with the Indiana State Hockey Association (ISHA) to take another step in creating the highest level of AAA hockey for boys and elite travel competition for girls in the state of Indiana and beyond.

During the 2020-2021 season the ISHA started a program, Indiana Elite, to give 2010 born Indiana kids an opportunity to occasionally practice and play high level AAA competition while still competing with their local program. The team progressed quickly throughout the season and into ‘21-’22.

After seeing the level that can be achieved through the cooperation of all programs in the state, discussions began in late 2021 to figure out a way to expand on the idea and create the highest level youth hockey teams that the state has ever seen.

The ISHA has hired the IYHA to operate Indiana Elite powered by the Indy Fuel for the 2022-2023 season. In coordination with the ISHA, we will run Elite AAA boys teams for 2009 through 2012 birthyears. We will have a full time 16U Indiana Elite girls team along with part time 12U and 14U girls teams.

In order to create the best environment for player and team development, full time IE teams will practice together weekly in Indy and have additional skills sessions closer to home. Current Jr Fuel AAA teams at 10U-13U will rebrand as Indiana Elite powered by Indy Fuel with tryouts open to players from all over Indiana and beyond.

We strongly feel that it will be in the best interest of all Indy area travel players to not only take our top AAA teams to the next level, but boost internal competition and the success of our Tier 2 teams at the same time. We will have an exciting announcement for our Jr Fuel Gold teams in the coming weeks.

More information will be released soon including practice and training formats, preseason training camp, coaches and sample game schedules. Tryouts will take place in Indy on April 15-16. Click the link below to register!

Congratulations to Jr Fuel 16U AAA player Peyton Smith for earning NAPHL All Star game MVP after scoring a hat trick and adding an assist last week in Blaine, MN.

The 2005 born forward from Maryville, IL was selected for the 2021 16U All Star game by the NAPHL league coaches and the NAHL Central Scouting staff. Peyton leads the Jr Fuel 16U AAA in league scoring this season with 18 points in 18 league games thus far. Smith rose to the occasion in front of dozens of scouts against the top players in the league. He led Team Grey to a 6-1 victory with a hand in four of the team’s six goals including three of his own. Smith is the first Jr Fuel player to earn All Star MVP honors since joining the league.

Connor Smith represented the Jr Fuel in the 18U All Star game. recording one assist in Team Grey’s 5-1 victory. The crafty 2003 born forward from Detroit, MI was selected after scoring 18 points in 20 league games for the Jr Fuel behind only Luke Slaven (Fishers, IN) who leads the team in NAPHL scoring with 24 points.

All four Jr Fuel NAPHL Tier 1 teams performed very well at one of the largest and most heavily scouted events of the season. Our 14U, 15U, 16U, and 18U AAA teams went a collective 12-2-2 on the weekend. Most notable was our 15U’s 5-3 victory over the first place Chicago Reapers breaking a ten game win streak and handing them only their second loss of the season.

The IYHA Jr Fuel Board and Staff wish everyone a safe and happy Holiday Season. We will see you all when we get back to our normal schedule the week of January 3rd!
