IYHA’s Indy Jr Fuel Travel hockey alumni honored as one of the best in the nation

IYHA Jr Fuel alumni Jake McIntosh, a native of Westfield, IN, has been invited to attend the 2024 USA Hockey Boys 16 Player Development Camp this July in Amherst, NY.

The USA Hockey Boys National 16 Player Development Camp is composed of the best American, 2008-born hockey players. Jake McIntosh was selected as one of the six players at the forward position from the Mid-America district, which stretches from Indiana to Western Pennsylvania.

“Jake is a natural goal-scorer, his size and strength set him apart from even regional competition,” said Derek Edwardson, IYHA Executive Director. “He is a prime example of what local players can accomplish with the right amount of focus, discipline, and dedication to hockey.”

Growing up in Central Indiana, Jake McIntosh start playing hockey for the Indianapolis Youth Hockey Association almost ten years ago. He recently served as the team captain for the 14 & Under IYHA Jr Fuel team that won the North American Prospects Hockey League Championship, a team coached by fellow IYHA alumni and Aurora University star, Drew Doyon and his father, Mario, a former Indianapolis Ice defenseman.

“There is no player more deserving of these accolades,” Drew Doyon said of his former player. “Jake is one of the hardest working young men, and truly a great teammate.”

Jake will travel to Amherst, NY, from July 9-15 to skate with the most elite 2008-born American boys. Players from this camp will be evaluated by USA Hockey team coaches and seen by scouts from every major college hockey program and NHL teams. The best players will be invited to play for Team USA Under-17 Selects for the Five Nations Tournament, which takes place August 14-18, in Piestany, Slovakia.

Indy Jr Fuel Tier II travel team tryouts will be held May 17th-19th at the Carmel Ice Skadium for those looking for an opportunity to join the IYHA development model and compete against the best regional talent. Register here: https://iyha.sportngin.com/register/form/411198936
