September 30: "Celly Day"! Join us to celebrate the beginning of the season for the 317 Hockey League. In addition to on-ice evaluations being conducted, we will have outdoor activities between 8a - 12:30p for the whole family to enjoy, including an obstacle course, dunk tank, face painting, balloon art, Nitro the Indy Fuel Mascot, an inflatable Slapshot Station, Pit Stop food and drink (inside), Kona Ice Truck, music and more!

October 2: 317 Hockey League practices begin. Because teams will not be formed yet, players practice according to birth year. A detailed email with the practice schedule for the first week will be sent.

October 7: 317 Hockey League pre-season game. Teams will be created after the pre-season game, and players will be notified about their team, coach, and official practice schedule by Sunday, October 8. 

October 14: 317 Hockey League pre-season game

October 21: 317 Hockey League pre-season game

October 28: 317 Hockey League first official games of the season

The 317 Hockey League (317HL) begins on Saturday, September 30th! Register today to play on a team. Ages 4 - 17 welcome. ALL players who are currently enrolled or have gone through Learn to Play Hockey group classes are encouraged to register for the 317 Hockey League.

September 30: "Celly Day" at the Fuel Tank - this event is to celebrate (aka Celly) the kickoff of the 2023 -2024 season for the 317 Hockey League. Everyone in the organization is invited to participate in the carnival-type activities outside, including: an inflatable obstacle course, a dunk tank, face painting, balloon art, Nitro's Slap Shot Inflatable, Pit Stop's delicious food, Kona Ice truck, Puck Plinko, Frisbee Toss, music provided by TJ Hollingsworth, and more! Be sure to stop by the Jr Fuel Spirit Wear Apparel table in the lobby when you arrive. Inventory is limited so grab it while you can.

Players will be evaluated throughout the morning. Check the schedule below for your player's evaluation time. ***Outdoor activities will run from 8a - 12:30p***

Can my child play in the 317 Hockey League (317HL) if they have only participated in Lids Learn to Play Hockey (LTPH)? Yes! Every LTPH participant, past or present, is encouraged to join the 317HL and play on a team. Scroll down for pricing and age divisions.

What if my player can't make evaluations on September 30th? We will continue evaluations during the first week of practice (October 2 - 7), and your player will be evaluated at that time. 

How long are practices? 1 hour each week. 

When do practices begin? The week of October 2nd.

When do I practice? General practice times are available to view on the next page. Although you may choose the rink in which you wish to practice, you cannot choose your practice time.

For the week of October 2nd, practice times will be assigned. An email will be sent to let you know your practice time.

After teams are announced on Sunday, October 8, teams will be assigned a permanent practice time. You will be able to see your schedule by following your team via the SportsEngine app. 

When will I be able to sign up for Supplemental Skills? We are still working on final details for Supplemental Skills. Please stay tuned for details. 

When will we know what team we are on and who our coach is: The draft for each age group will take place on Saturday October 7th. Once complete, you will be notified and will be able to find schedules via the SportsEngine app.

When is the first game? We will have pre-season games on Saturday, October 7 and 14. These games will be divided by rink/age group. This will allow coaches the opportunity to confirm teams are balanced. If trades are necessary, they will be handled at this time.

Our first official games will be held Saturday, October 21. 

When and Where are games played:

• Nitros games will be held on Fridays at the Arctic Zone from 5 - 6p
• All-girls games will be held on Fridays at the Arctic Zone from 6:15 - 7:15p
• 8U games will be held on Saturdays at the Ice Barn (Westfield) between 7a - 7p (approximately)
• 10U / 12U /14U games will be held on Saturdays between 7 - 11:30a (approximately) and will rotate between Pop Weaver, Carmel, and the Fuel Tank. Additionally, each team will travel to Perry Park (Greenwood) for one game
• 18U games will be held on Fridays at Carmel from 6:45 - 7:45p

When will we get jerseys/socks? As soon as they arrive, we will distribute them to each head coach. From there, coaches will hand them out.

Below is the tentative 317HL schedule. Players have the option to select their preferred practice rink from Pop Weaver, Carmel, or the Fuel Tank. However, practice times are predetermined and cannot be chosen by the players. The following schedule provides an overview of when each age group will practice at each rink. Following the evaluation process, players will be assigned to teams based on their chosen practice rink. Coaches will communicate team assignments, practice days, and times once evaluations are complete. 

Nitros - this division is for players coming our Lids Learn to Play Hockey (2015 - 2019 birth years). This group will meet for 1 hour per week on Fridays at the Arctic Zone in Westfield for a combined practice + game. Great option for four and five year-olds just getting started and not wanting a bigger time commitment. Cost is $350. Jerseys included. Payment in full is required for Nitros. 

*Players are welcome to register for both the Nitros and the 317 Hockey League

All - Girls League (2005 - 2018 birth years): Players will receive one hour of weekly team practice, plus one Friday evening game. Cost is $775 if paid before June 15. On or after June 15, the cost is $795 You may pay in full, or make a $200 non-refundable deposit at the time of registration and set up 5 monthly payments of $115/$119 per month beginning Oct 1 and ending Feb 1. Jerseys/socks not included, but available for purchase in this registration.

*Girls are welcome to play in the All-Girls League and/or the coed/boys league.

8U - This division is for players (2015 - 2018 birth years) looking for the full 317 Hockey League experience: Players will receive one hour of weekly team practice, plus one Saturday game. Cost is $675 if paid before June 15. On or after June 15, the cost is $700. You may pay in full, or make a $200 non-refundable deposit at the time of registration and set up 5 monthly payments of $95/$100 per month beginning Oct 1 and ending Feb 1. Jerseys/socks not included, but available for purchase in this registration.

10U (2013 and 2014 birth years): Players will receive one hour of weekly team practice, plus one Saturday morning game. Cost is $775 if paid before June 15. On or after June 15, the cost is $795. You may pay in full, or make a $200 non-refundable deposit at the time of registration and set up 5 monthly payments of $115/$119 per month beginning Oct 1 and ending Feb 1. Jerseys/socks not included, but available for purchase in this registration.

12U (2011 and 2012 birth years): Players will receive one hour of weekly team practice, plus one Saturday morning game. Cost is $775 if paid before June 15. On or after June 15, the cost is $795. The IYHA Jr Fuel offers Learn to Play Hockey group hockey classes are designed for first-time players* between the ages of  4 - 17. Players will learn the fundamentals of stickhandling, advanced skating skills, and scoring the game winning goals!

Our station-based format gives players the opportunity to learn the necessary skills in a safe and competitive environment. The action-packed practices keep the kids moving, engaged, and excited to back to the rink every week!

Each class starts with a 10-minute group warm-up with the whole class. Players are then divided into 4 groups based on age/skill level. Players will rotate through 4 stations every 10 minutes:

1.  Skating Station - forwards and backwards skating, turning, stopping, crossovers, etc.
2.  Game Station - soccer, tag, tic-tac-toe, guard the dog, etc
3.  Passing/Shooting Station - includes a variety of puck-handling and shooting drills 
4.  Scrimmage Station - always every player's favorite station!

The last 5 - 7 minutes will be a group game of either Torpedo Alley or Sharks and Minnows for all players to participate. This is always a fun activity for the kids, coaches, and the parents!

Classes are offered on Sundays at the Fuel Tank and the cost is $25/class. You can pick just one class or register for multiple classes each month.

IYHA Jr Fuel Families - we have been very fortunate over the years to have an equipment room for both players and goalies at the Carmel Ice Skadium. These rooms are stocked by your continuous and generous donations, for which we are immensely grateful. 

However, the state of the players' equipment room (next to the IYHA office) is often in disarray. This makes for a very negative first impression when trying to fit new players for our Lids Learn to Play Hockey program. Additionally, it makes for a very frustrating experience when trying to move around to locate a piece of equipment and/or exchange a piece of equipment. 

We ask everyone to please be mindful of the time and effort required to keep this room organized. If you need to borrow or exchange equipment, please take your time searching. If you see something on the floor, please pick it up and put it in the correct bin. Thank you in advance for you attention to this matter and for your help.
