By IYHA 03/03/2025, 12:00pm EST

12U Red & 10U Red (2015) crowned BTHL Champs

Indy Jr Fuel 12U Red and 10U Red (2015) concluded the Buckeye Travel Hockey League’s end of season playoff tournament atop their respective divisions. 12U Red won the 12U A Gold division playoffs in Cincinnati, while 10U Red (2015) were crowned champs of the 10U A Bronze division in Louisville.

The Indy Jr Fuel 12U Red team’s playoff win comes on the heels of a very impressive regular season in BTHL play. They skated to an outstanding record of 14-1-1, leading their division in goal differential with a margin of +45. Coming in as the 1st seed, they were a perfect 4-0 through the tournament, winning the championship game 7-2 over the SISU Thunderbirds. Congratulations to Coach Pavel and the 12U Red team on a great season filled with many victories and great experiences for the players!

10U Red (Coach Dickmeyer) secured another championship banner for the IYHA Jr Fuel in the 10U A Bronze division of the BTHL end of season tournament in Louisville. An up and down regular season gave the 10U Red the experience they needed for a playoff push. Coach Dickmeyer had his players prepared for some tough tests, where their high-flying offense helped them advance to the finals. Their tough defense proved enough to best the Athens Bobcats by a score 3-2 in the championship game.

Other finalists from the IYHA Jr Fuel include 10U Red (Coach Bryan) who lost to Indian Hill 3-2 in the 10U A Gold division, 12U White lost in a heartbreaker of a game in a shootout to the Athens Bobcats for the 12U A Bronze division championship.

It was a great season for all nine IYHA Jr Fuel teams who participated in Buckeye Travel Hockey League play. Two tournament champions, two finalists, and three regular season winners mark the end of another successful season for the good guys from Indy in the BTHL.

A special thank you is owed to all of our BTHL players, parents, families, and coaches for making this season another great one!

10U Jr Fuel Girls Win Inaugural CGHL Championship

By IYHA 02/17/2025, 1:00pm EST

An incredible end to a historic season for Girl’s hockey in Indianapolis was capped off with a major victory by the 10U Jr Fuel Girls team in the first season of CGHL play.

An incredible end to a historic season for Girl’s hockey in Indianapolis was capped off with a major victory by the 10U Jr Fuel Girls team. 12U and 16U Jr Fuel Girls teams finished as runners-up in their respective divisions, amplifying Jr Fuel Girls success in the newly formed league.

All three Jr Fuel Girls travel teams participated in the first year of the Central Girls Hockey League (CGHL), competing against teams from St. Louis, Southwest Michigan, Cincinnati, and Tennessee.

10U Girls had a few decisive victories in route to their championship, with an 8-2 win over Cincinnati and a pair of shut-outs against Tennessee, with scores of 5-0 and 6-0, respectively. Nora Hiott’s goaltending was the difference for the Jr Fuel this weekend, as she was in net for all three games. With the CGHL season concluded, Joselyn Gustin was the Jr Fuel’s scoring leader with a whopping 31 goals in 17 league games.

The 12U Jr Fuel Girls had a somewhat disappointing 2-1 loss in their final after running away with the regular season. Their 13-2-1 record had them as the first seed going into playoffs. What makes their record and post-season accomplishments impressive is that they had earned a spot in the 14U division! Lily Bojrab was the team’s leading scorer in CGHL play with 26 points in 16 games. Goaltender Avery Bridge ended her fantastic regular season with 8 shutouts.

Our 16U Jr Fuel Girls team lost a nail-biter of a final game against Cincinnati’s 19U team with a score of 1-0. These ladies battled hard in very close games all weekend. Their playoff performance was a great illustration of their development this season. They put in a ton of work this year and made great strides against some really tough opponents.

We congratulate all three of our IYHA Jr Fuel Girls travel teams on their significant accomplishments this weekend. As founding members of the CGHL, it’s great to see our players challenged while also experiencing the satisfaction of seeing their hard work pay off!

Congratulations to the Indy Jr Fuel 14U Gold team and Coach Bozoian.

The Indy Jr Fuel 14U Gold team were crowned champions of the Central States Developmental Hockey League in the Prospects division in Chicago on Sunday, February 9th, a perfect end to an almost perfect record in regular season and playoff games.

After a miraculous run through the regular season, Coach Mike Bozoian’s 14U Gold team entered the playoffs as the 1st seed with a record of 23 wins, 1 loss, and 1 tie. They led their division in every meaningful category with 121 goals scored, 33 goals against, for a differential of 88 points. While the powerplay wasn’t as effective as some of their opponents, the group was able to score a whopping 12 short-handed goals throughout the year.

The first game of pool play added some stress for the top seeded team’s coaching staff, when the Affton Americans dug themselves out of a 3 goal hole to beat the Jr Fuel 4-3 in overtime. However, the scoring prowess of the 14U Gold team helped elevate them through their next two wins by scores of 7-1 and 6-0, respectively. The goal differential would be what it took to advance the Jr Fuel to the championship game on Super Bowl Sunday.

The Jr Fuel faced the second seed Glenview Stars in the final game, a team they had swept during the opening weekend of the regular season, but who had since not lost a single regular season game. AJ Linn scored to give the Jr Fuel an early lead, but the Stars answered two minutes later with a goal on the powerplay. Beck Biggerstaff helped the Jr Fuel regain their lead in the second period. Oliver Tan caught Glenview in transition and buried a nice goal which would prove to be enough to secure the victory after the opponent scored a late tally with their net empty. Rose Henderson was superb in net for the Jr Fuel, making 19 saves, 5 of them in the final minute of the game.

Congratulations to the Indy Jr Fuel 14U Gold team and Coach Bozoian. This team was able to withstand the pressure that comes with a 1st seed and continued their regular season success. We can’t wait to hang that banner at the rink!
