With the hot temperatures, you might not be thinking about hockey. However, now is the time to plan for the upcoming season.
During the month of June, we will be reaching out to you to discuss your interest and feedback for the 2018-19 Fusion 12U season. Roman Deer, Andrew Hortsman, and Tim Bischof will be your official coaching team again with contributions from others like last year.
We will have a planning meeting occurring concurrently with a 3 on 3 skate on June 16th. Bryan Vackar sent out a note. It is at Carmel from 3:30-4:30.
We are planning a tournament schedule that will include a number of tournaments we attended in 2017-18. In addition, we will look of local games to complement our tournament schedule.
We are looking to continue to have 2 skates a week in addition to your house practice, ADM, and Game.
This year we have been asked to join the IYHA travel teams in preparing our players for more than just on-ice readiness. We plan to work with St. Vincent’s Sports Medicine to receive concussion baseline testing and a weekly dryland training (at the rink before or after practice). This new program will cost each player $185 for the season (roughly $10 per training). We will elect to do this as a team and will determine a the end of the season if should continue this programing in future years.
The full cost of the season is underdetermined. We would like to raise money throughout the summer or adjust down on-ice opportunities so that we can try to cap costs at $950. However, we will need to raise $2,500 to do so. Please let us know if you can help in raising funds too.
Finally, we will have some team building throughout the summer at local pools. We will also ask your opinion on having a regular skate(roller blades) on the Monon.
Our goal is to develop your children for success on the ice and off the ice. Thank you
Roman, Andrew, and Tim
