With travel tryouts upon us, the IYHA is excited to announce a new agreement with St. Vincent Sports Performance (SVSP) to be the Athlete Performance and Medical partner of all Racers Travel and Select teams.

Throughout the season, all Racers Travel and Select teams will train off ice with professional strength and conditioning coaches from St. Vincent Sports Performance every week.

All Travel and Select players will receive free ImPACT concussion baseline tests at the start of the season and priority access to St Vincent medical professionals should a concussion or any other injury be sustained throughout the season.

Along with weekly off ice training, St Vincent professionals will conduct educational seminars for parents and players on the topics of nutrition, hydration, weight management and the latest in sweat testing technology. Lectures on sports psychology, leadership, preparation and overcoming adversity will also be a part of our player and coach development program.

This is a major piece of the youth athlete development puzzle that has been lacking over the past few seasons. Having age appropriate, professionally designed, off ice training for all players at the Select and Travel levels will ensure that our players are on track physically for our Long Term Athlete Development plan. We have met extensively in the past few months with coaches and administrators at SVSP to discuss philosophy of athlete development.  St Vincent’s programming aligns perfectly with USA Hockey’s ADM model and our own long term goals for Racers players.

The staff at St Vincent Sports Performance is on the cutting edge of athlete performance and has an unrivaled client list of major league athletes including 1st overall draft picks in multiple major sports, Super Bowl Champions, MLB MVP’s, NFL MVP’s, a constant stream of NCAA Division 1 athletes and dozens of Olympic athletes including multiple Gold medalists.

Emily Burgess (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist), who will be the primary strength and conditioning coach for our players, has worked as the head strength coach for Robert Morris University NCAA Division 1 men’s hockey team and the Indiana Ice of the USHL.

Racers AAA, AA and A tryouts start Friday! Sign up online now if you haven’t already. No walk-ins will be permitted to take the ice. For information including coaches, roster sizes, estimated fees, leagues and practice schedules click HERE.
