Squirt Prep 2018 (2009 birthdates only)

All 2009 born players considering travel or select hockey in the 2018-2019 season are encouraged to attend this year’s Squirt Prep. Beginning March 29th, players will get 7 weeks of on ice, classroom and video instruction to gear up for full ice squirt hockey. Learn off-sides, icing, full ice (5v5) positioning, line changes and much more from Derek Edwardson and his crew of IYHA player mentors. Along with Coach Edwardson, your mite graduates will be placed in small groups to be mentored by older travel players who have demonstrated superior leadership and team play during the past season. Players from all organizations are welcome!

If you are looking for more than one ice session per week and more skill work, please check out the 1x per week skills clinic for 2009 birthdates. That along with squirt prep is the perfect combination of education, skills and game play to prepare for full ice tryouts!

Spring Goalie Clinic with Willie Mitchell (All ages)

Join former NCAA division 1 head coach, IYHA Goalie Development Coordinator and Just Goalies founder Willie Mitchell to hone your goalie skills this spring. We will have a goalie only session with Willie once per week and all registered goalies skate with the IYHA travel clinic during game night to apply your newly learned skills in game situations. The clinic will run for 6 weeks beginning March 29 and culminating the week of travel tryouts in May. Goaltenders from all organizations are welcome!

Spring Skills Clinic (2009-2004 birthdates)

Our most popular off season program for the past several years has been our Spring Skills Clinic.

For travel and more experienced select level players, this year we are offering a 6 week clinic, two nights per week for those looking to sharpen their skating and puckhandling skills in time for travel tryouts in May. IYHA Director Derek Edwardson, Olympic Figure Skating Coach Serguei Zaitsev, US National Champion skater Nick Anderson and other guest IYHA coaches will provide the skill instruction for our U10-U14 travel level players.

For those looking for only one night a week to improve your skills or to supplement your spring sports schedule, we will be running an 8 week house/select level clinic from March 26-May 22. Sessions will be run by Derek Edwardson along with other guest coaches. Ice times will consist of equal parts skill drills and competitive games. Players from all organizations are welcome!

Hometown Heroes Summer Camp (2011-2006 birthdates)

For the first time ever, the IYHA will be running our own full day, week long summer camp June 11th-15th at the Carmel Ice Skadium. It will be a unique and exciting experience for Indy area players. Each day will feature a local player who has gone on to play NCAA college and/or professional hockey. The player will be on ice to help teach skills, but more importantly, help give local players role models to look up to and prove that you can make it in hockey from the state of Indiana. Each day will finish with a Q&A session open to all players and parents with the day’s featured “Hometown Hero”.

Not only will your player be inspired by local players that have reached some of the highest levels of hockey, he or she will get top notch instruction on skating, puckhandling, passing, puck protection, scoring, battling and defending from the top local coaches lead by IYHA Director Derek Edwardson.

The week will finish with on ice testing and video recording of each player’s skating, puckhandling and shooting. This video will be analyzed, edited and returned to each player with audio comments and instruction on what can be easily fixed and worked on throughout the season. This is the only summer camp where you go home with tangible, individual feedback from a trained professional, not a camp counselor, that you can reference throughout the year to make you a better hockey player.

Groups of 2011-2009 birthdates and 2008-2006 birthdates will be capped at 28 skaters each. No longer will you be in a group of 50+ players to wait in line for 80% of your time on the ice. Stay tuned for this year’s “Hero” announcements in the coming weeks and months! Mark your calendars for Hometown Heroes June 11-15, 2018!

Don't miss out. Spots are filling up quickly!
