Hello girl’s hockey parents:

We will continue to build on the foundation laid over the last few years.  Below we have outlined our plans for the upcoming year.

 House Programs

Regarding our house programs, we will continue to be focused on development of girl’s hockey. We hope to again offer Mini-mite, Mite, Squirt, and PW girls house programs. These programs will continue to be coordinated with IYHA and follow the ADM and age- specific model for development. We have been successful with building girls hockey and plan to continue to do so!

Importantly, this was the second year we had to turn girls away from our house program due to numbers.  IYHA/FUSION registration is open.  All players interested in playing next year should register now to ensure a full roster spot.  Once teams fill up, players may continue to register as “practice only.” Here is the link to register your player for IYHA house: https://iyha.sportngin.com/register/form/521163201

Travel

We will again offer travel opportunities. We plan to join a league organized in Chicago and will continue to play the Buckeye league. The link to register for tryouts for our travel teams will be up shortly. Tryouts will be Saturday, May 20, at 9:15am and 11:45am for all levels.

12U team –We will play tournament weekends coordinated with the Fusion 14U and 19U (see list at the end of the letter). We will continue to use our weekly practices and games to prepare for these. We will schedule other practices and games where available. We plan to have a separate 12U schedule for 2017-18 (new). We expect to play 20-25 games. The estimated cost is $800-900 per player.

14U team–We plan to play in the Buckeye and Chicago leagues as well as program coordinated weekend tournaments. As part of the Chicago league, we would expect to play 15 games in Chicago and 5 in Indianapolis. In addition, we would play the Buckeye weekends as in past years and play in 3-4 program coordinated tournament weekends (see list at the end of the letter). We will continue to use our weekly practices and house games to prepare for these and will establish skills weekends (2-3 practices) in Indianapolis for additional development. Additional discussion with participants will determine if the team files for National Advancing status. We expect to play roughly 45-55 games. The estimated cost is $1,700- 2,200 per player. David Weninger will be the head coach.

19U team –As part of the Chicago and Buckeye league, we would expect to play in 8-10 tournament weekends as well as an end of season tournament. We will play 3-5 program coordinated weekend tournaments as well. We will continue to use our two on-ice and one off-ice practices to prepare for these games. Additional discussion with participants will determine if the team files for National Advancing status. We expect to play 35-45 games. The estimated cost is $2,500 -2,700. Kris May will be the head coach.

We will have evaluation sessions in May and August for all those interested in the travel teams listed above (12, 14, and 19/16). Players who are offered roster spots will be asked to confirm their commitments immediately following try-outs so that practices and games can be scheduled. This commitment will allow for us to raise funds and petition for grants to offset the costs of playing. Priority will be given to players who try-out in May and an open try-out will be held in August if roster spots remain.

Program Coordinated Travel Tournaments to be attended by 19U, 14U, and 12U (3-4 per team)

Oct – CCYHA – Columbus OH

Nov – CCM International (fka Nike Bauer) –Detroit, MI (to be confirmed due to cost)
