Hello IYHA families!

Honor World Cancer Day February 4th by signing up for our 4th Annual IYHA and St. Baldrick’s FACEOFF Against Pediatric Cancer. Don’t miss out! It’s just one month away!

Start “growing your flow” now, IYHA, and help us drop the gloves on childhood cancers!

Run concurrently with our end-of-season Guenin Cup tournament, our St. Baldrick’s event has become our favorite charitable tradition amongst our IYHA families. This season, our on-site head-shaving experience will be Saturday, March 4th, at Carmel Ice Skadium in the rink 2 lobby. Anyone can sign up online to help raise funds for St. Baldrick’s, and then get their heads shaved in a display of solidarity with the very kids we’re trying to help.

To join our shaving event, sign up at: https://www.stbaldricks.org/events/IYHA2017

We all know that cancer does not discriminate, and everyone has been touched by this horrible disease in some way, including our Guenin Cup namesake, Rolland “Whitey” Guenin. Whitey was taken from this earth too soon on June 27, 2016.

Born in South Bend, he was a driven professional with a passion for ice hockey. Whitey played for the Indianapolis Warriors and opened our very own Carmel Ice Skadium in 1974, where he served as owner, manager and coach until 2002 when he retired. Whitey was active in youth hockey, instilling a love for the sport in many.

In 2017, IYHA chooses to honor Whitey’s legacy with the Guenin Cup and our IYHA & St. Baldrick’s FACEOFF Against Childhood Cancer. We know that RESEARCH is the only way to find breakthroughs.

In addition to our own annual event, we will be shaving heads at the Coliseum at the Indy Fuel “Brave the Shave” night on Friday, March 3. The Fuel team will be wearing specialty St. Baldrick’s jerseys which will be auctioned off after the game with proceeds benefiting St. Baldrick’s.

IYHA has decided to alter our Guenin Cup schedule on March 3 so that our families can help pack the house with the entire Indianapolis youth hockey community and help raise as much money as possible to help find a cure for pediatric cancer with St. Baldrick’s!

That night, the top two youth fundraisers at the IYHA event will be awarded with a “Shoot the Puck” spot at the game, or with the chance to skate the flag through the tunnel during the opening ceremonies!

Help us raise funding and join the fight against childhood cancer! All of IYHA, friends and families, can use this link to purchase tickets to the Fuel game. If we can sell 250 or more, 100% of the proceeds go directly to St. Baldrick’s!
