Now that the hockey season is in full swing, IYHA is excited to announce that we will be partnering with St. Baldrick's Foundation for a 3rd year to check childhood cancer into the boards!!  So cancel those haircuts, and join us as IYHA Gives Back!

This idea was born from one of our IYHA mite teams 3 years ago.  At the end of the 2012-2013 season, the Mite Blackhawks all shaved their heads and raised about $5,000 for St. Baldrick’s in just one week.  When word spread about the reasons behind their bald heads, some IYHA parents and board members began to wonder how it would look for the whole organization to participate in such an event.  During the our end-of-season IYHA Guenin Cup Tournament Weekend in March 2014 we had a head shaving event with OVER 40 SHAVEES - IYHA raised $22,248!!  Just last year, IYHA and our amazing parents, coaches, and players raised over $55,000!!!  Imagine what we can do this year with your support.

We will be holding our 3rd annual St. Baldrick’s event at the Carmel Ice Skadium the weekend of March 4-6. Kids (and parents and siblings and friends) will be able to sign up online to raise funds and then get their heads shaved as a display of solidarity with the very kids we’re helping.  The girls can donate their hair to Wigs for Kids or recruit their dad and brothers . . . or they can even shave their heads if they wish!  There will be more details to follow!

What do you need to know right now?  Let that hair grow!  The more hair, the bigger the donation, right?!  Imagine how it will look to see a bunch of bald heads walking around the rink for the Guenin Cup tournament!  And then imagine how the world will look when this generation grows up. Our hope is that these kids WILL be the generation that finds cures for pediatric cancers!
