IYHA Midget Program available for high school players not playing H.S. hockey
Hello Indy hockey families:
Over the years, the Indianapolis Youth Hockey Association has had a number of inquiries as to the availability of a hockey program for 14-17-year-old players who are not playing high school hockey. In order to meet this need, IYHA is offering once again a new midget hockey program this year open to all players within this age group regardless of skill level. The principal goal of the program is to offer high school-aged players the opportunity to continue to play hockey in a fun environment and to continue to develop and maintain the great friendships formed through their years of playing hockey.
Refereed games (and some practice) will take place on Monday nights at 4 to 5pm at The Arctic Zone.
IYHA is offering a full or half session for midgets. The cost of a half session is $230 per player, which includes jerseys. A full session is $450.
Long-time IYHA coach Jason Pearson will oversee the program. His goal will be to foster a fun atmosphere. Ultimately, they hope to have the players involved in the management and direction of the program, including potentially the selection of teams at the beginning of each session. As this league is purely recreational, checking will not be allowed. A full schedule will be released soon.
